Water fountains inside a large garden pond, water bodies, or farm ponds, lends a beautifully elegant touch to them. The water fountains, due to filtration, keep the water clean, and provide additional oxygen to the pond fishes.
While selecting a fountain, make sure that the height of the water fountain spray is less than one half the width of the garden pond. This helps to prevent excessive water loss. For proper distribution of water, it is necessary to match the fountain spray with the fountain pump. Most of the fountain pumps contain devices that adjust itself with the height of the fountain spray.
Fountains are the best way to provide a cooling effect on your house during summers. A wall fountain near the front door produces a pleasing sound to your ear. You can even opt for a standing water fountain with all its necessary accessories like a pump, container, water plant and pebbles. They give a decorative touch to the fountain. If you stay in a dry area, either because of the rugged terrain or due to air conditioning, fountains are very helpful. The increase the humidity of indoor air and prevent your skin from drying. It is said that the negative ions released by fountains, is good for the mood and concentration.
You can easily prepare your own fountain at home with the help of a waterproof container, a water pump, pebbles and water plants. Using a suction cup, place the pump at the bottom of the bowl. Plug the pump to an electric outlet and cut the tubing accordingly to fit the container. Place rocks and pebbles at the bottom of the container and adjust the water volume as required to produce the sound.

Whether you are working with existing furnishings and fabrics or “starting from scratch” with an empty room, you should always use the elements and principles of design as a guide in choosing everything. The elements are your tools or raw materials, much like paints are the basics to a painter. The elements of design include space, line, form, color, and texture. The principles of design relate to how you use these elements and are balance, emphasis, rhythm, proportion and scale, and harmony and unity.
Element #1: Space
Space defines the boundaries and sets the limits on the functional and decorative things you can do. Usually you will not determine the space; instead, you will be faced with the challenge of using the existing space effectively.
Element #2: Line
The lines in a room are second only to color in importance when it comes to setting the overall mood or feeling of a room. The lines of window fashions should support the dominant line of the room. In most situations, the dominant line is straight (vertical, horizontal or diagonal) rather than curved. Your choice of emphasizing the direction of lines will determine the mood you want to create.
• Vertical lines add height and dignity, creating a more formal atmosphere. Vertical lines also balance the horizontal lines found in most furniture.
• Horizontal lines tend to create a restful, informal feeling. They work well in casual rooms or as relief to the strong verticals of formal rooms.
• Diagonal lines attract attention and lead the eye. They can be disturbing unless supported by verticals or opposing diagonals.
• Curved lines add a softening effect and keep the room from becoming too stiff. Use curved lines with some restraint to keep the room from becoming too soft and overly feminine.

Glass is very ancient material. Now it’s very difficult to invent something new in glass making. Though we can still enhance the strength of the glass and vary the bathroom design.
The main methods of enhancing the strength of glass and its safety are based on the latest production technologies. Today glass is used to produce virtually all products, that’s why glass objects are widely applied in the interiors of living and non-living premises. But mainly it is found in the bathroom interiors: it makes these rooms spacious and airy.
Quite often in the new bathroom design ideas there are lots of design projects where we come across the combination of a bathroom and a bedroom, where the doors are replaced with the glass walls, movable panels or shields made of transparent or matte glass. This bathroom and bedroom combination creates an illusion of one common room which is very important if the bathroom space is not big enough.
Tinted, transparent or matte glass walls, open glass shelves can become an “invisible” zoning element in a large bathroom, where the bath area is rather remote from the wash stand. Even the low decorative walls will make the bathroom interior look heavy, but the glass walls will make it more functional and cozy.
Among a variety of glass types presented in the bathroom design projects (transparent, matte, tinted), a new product – variable-transparency glass appeared recently in the bathroom stores. It does not break, it is absolutely safe and adds an air of some mystery in the bathroom aura: when the lights are on – it is transparent, but it becomes matte when the lights go down. Such glass is widely used in design of the interiors including bathrooms.
